Stable flame, uniform melting, natural crackling effect
The Crackling Booster wooden wick is designed for high-quality artisanal candles. The double blade with a central booster provides more heat and superior capillary action, ensuring a uniform melt pool , reduced tunneling, and a pleasant crackling effect similar to burning wood. Ideal with vegetable waxes (soy, coconut, palm), blended waxes , and paraffin .
Features and Benefits
- Double layer with booster : greater thermal power and rapid ignition.
- Stable flame : regular combustion, less smoke if sized correctly.
- Sound effect : Realistic crackling sound that enhances the sensory experience.
- Versatile : suitable for soy, coconut, palm, paraffin and their blends.
- Sustainable : natural wood, free from metals.
Size Guide
The “Booster” versions integrate a central blade that increases the heat for thicker waxes or larger containers.
| Thickness | Ideal types of wax | Usage Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 0.8 mm. | Soy / Coconut High Viscosity / Intense Blends | Wider flame; suitable for high fragrance loads. |
| 1.0 mm. | 100% Soy / Palm / High Melting Point Waxes | Maximum thermal efficiency; reduces the risk of tunneling. |

1.0 mm thickness Recommended pot diameter |
Usage Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9.5 mm (≈ 0.375") | 5.0–6.5 cm | 5.5–7.0 cm | Use 1mm thickness for “hard” soy, thick glass, or cold environments. |
| 12.7 mm (≈ 0.500") | 6.5–8.0 cm | 7.0–8.5 cm | 1 mm. if with 0.8 mm. see tunneling or slow melt pool. |
| 15.9 mm (≈ 0.625") | 7.5–9.0 cm | 8.0–9.5 cm | 1 mm. for larger vases or high fragrance %. |
Note: The recommended diameters are indicative. Always perform burn tests to validate the container × wax × fragrance combination.
User Guide
- Preparation: fix the wick on a metal clip centered on the bottom of the container.
- Cutting: Leave 4–6 mm of height above the wax.
- Pouring: Pour the wax at the appropriate temperature (e.g. soy 60–70 °C; paraffin 75–80 °C) to avoid damaging the wood.
- Cooling: Hold the wick upright until completely hardened.
- Burn test: Perform test burns (2–3 cycles) to check flame, soot, and melt pool .
- Maintenance: Trim the burnt portion to 4–5 mm before each relighting.
Tip: For hard waxes or very strong fragrances, consider a larger size or the Booster version.
Safety
- Never leave a candle unattended.
- Keep away from flammable materials, children and animals.
- Use heat-resistant containers and on flat surfaces.
- Turn off if the flame gets too high or produces smoke: trim and try again.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the right size?
Start with the container diameter and the type of wax . Use the table as a reference and validate with a burn test.
Can I use it with pure soy wax?
Yes. For large diameters and dense blends, the .03/.04 or Booster versions offer better performance.
Why do I hear more or less crackling?
Crackling depends on size , recipe (wax/fragrance), and conditions of use . Proper sizing and burn testing make it more consistent.
Does it produce soot?
When properly sized and trimmed, soot is minimal. If smoke occurs, trim to 4–5 mm or change to a different size.
